Abstract
The article is dedicated to the study of peculiarities of syntactic realization of the principle of iconicity in EnglishCanadian poetic texts. The study is aimed at determining of syntactic principles of encoding information and specific features of their implementation in the structure of simile. The principle of iconicity is defined as the basis of simile as a verbal sign.
