Abstract
The author of the article discloses the innovative character of the story “Kholstomer” by L. Tolstoy, concentrating attention on its poetics, specifics of psychologism depiction, social and philosophical range of problems, which were arisen in the above mentioned story. These aspects haven't been considered enough in the literary researches. In article the author analyses the role of internal monologues, methods of defamiliarization, esthetic anthropomorphism and allegory in the art structure of the story.
