Abstract

The article deals with the features of the representation of the concept FIESTA with another concept of Spanish linguistic culture, GUERRA. The carnivalesque is an important extralinguistic factor, which determines interconceptual connections of the concepts FIESTA and GUERRA. The concept FIESTA has a scenario structure as well as a concept GUERRA. In the cognitive pattern “HOLIDAY IS WAR” a Spanish holiday is represented as a war or a battle in the mind of Spanish speakers. In Spanish linguistic culture the metaphorical model “HOLIDAY IS WAR” is widely represented by a number of lexemes with military semantics such as nomination of weapons, military actions, war participants etc.
