COMMUNICATIVE INTENTIONAL CONTENT AND DISCOURSE-GENRE FORMS OF THE PROMISSIVE STATEMENTS IN THE UKRAINIAN LANGUAGE

Abstract

In the article, promissive statements are analyzed as a performative means of explicating the speaker’s intentions in different discourse-genre registers of the Ukrainian language. In particular, the content of the promise intention and the degree of its intensification in the context of the systematization of verbal predicates functionally represented in the structure of utterances of oral and literary discourse are described on vast factual material. The specific features of the
implementation of the promise intention as a solemn obligation in the oath as a genre register of official and business discourse are defined.
