Abstract

The article explores the lexical features of modern tourist discourse on the basis of English and German languages. The authors analyze newly-coined words and word-combinations with the components tourism (English) and Tourismus (German). The status of these units is determined taking into account the specificity of tourist discourse, which is simultaneously a linguistic, sociological and cultural phenomenon. Attention is also paid to the nationally specific cognitivepragmatic peculiarities of the units studied. Formally-structural parameters and semantic diversity of lexemes are compared. The reflection of new common European tourist trends in the nominations of each of the languages is analyzed.
