CLOTHING AND APPEARANCE AS A CULTURAL CODE OF THE UK PARLIAMENTARY DEBATES PARTICIPANTS

Abstract

This article concentrates on the peculiarities of the nonverbal communication among the participants of the political discourse during the debates in the UK parliament. The analysis deals with the appearance and clothing of the communicants that form the basis of ceremonial character and traditionalism in the process of the parliamentary debates. This paper takes the official transcripts of the British parliament during the meetings of the UK House of Lords and the House of Commons in the post-Thatcher period.
