Abstract
The article is devoted to emblematic component of the Russian culture of 18th century, that is G. Derzhavin’s conscious intention to include his works into rhetorical context of the epoch having supplied them with emblematic vignettes. The article focuses on the verses dedicated to Catherine II: correlation between poetic texts and emblematic pictures is analyzed; role and functions of emblems and specificity of their artistic realization in G. Derzhavin’s poetry are investigated.
