Abstract
The article deals with the pragmatic peculiarities of ironical utterances-headlines and possibilities of their adequate realization in the process of translation into Ukrainian language. Special attention is paid to the pragmatic effect produced by different types of ironical speech acts. Regularity and frequency of the translation techniques to produce the ironic effect while translating at different levels of translation equivalence are established.
