Abstract
This article concentrates on the peculiarities of the compliment tactics in the UK parliamentary debates. It provides a detailed analysis of the specific language and stylistic means used by the debates’ participants to successfully praise opponents during the meetings of the UK House of Commons in the post-Thatcher period.
