Abstract
The article is devoted to the analysis of the formation processes and functional characteristics of various lexical units, derived from proper nouns – deonymous derivatives, which are encountered in modern English mass-media. The reasons for their formation and the main factors contributing to it as well as the most typical ford-formation patterns of these neologisms are studied; their text and discourse functions in the text and pragmatic features are analyzed.
