«CHEKHOV» IN BERNARD SHAW’S DRAMATURGY

Abstract

In this article the separate regularities of A.P. Chekhov’s poetical features reproduction in B. Shaw’s drama are being studied. The choice of the play was determined not only by B. Shaw’s innovation, but also by pointing at «Chekhov’s roots» of the play. The influence of A.P. Chekhov’s creation on the early XX century European drama is the defined fact, but the questions of synthesis and artistic reorientation require specification. The given article, at large, demonstrates important principles of A.P. Chekhov’s tradition assimilation in B. Shaw’s discussion drama.
